This 12x12 hardcover book documents a Year in the Life of Hamilton County’s Animal Shelter, Cincinnati Animal CARE. Our inaugural Photo a Day book is a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to serve an entire community’s animals.

Every image inside was captured by the people who live this work every day--Cincinnati Animal CARE staff, dedicated volunteers, and compassionate fosters contributed photos that were compiled by the Community Engagement team to document the real moments that define a county animal shelter.

From unexpected intakes and medical care to enrichment, reunions, and adoptions, this book offers an in-depth look at the daily realities, challenges, and victories.

In 2025, the faces featured in these pages made a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of animals. They showed up in all conditions, opened their homes, shared stories, cleaned kennels, provided comfort, enforced laws, and advocated for animals who needed a voice.
